10/10/09 at Fenton 7-2 Loss

On a cold Saturday morning, the Trojans lost to a tough Fenton High School team. The Trojans struck first and quickly with Hoon Han stealing the ball from a defender to Justin Rink, who then played Hoon through towards goal and Hoon buried the shot near post. Fenton came back quickly and scored 3 goals in the first half. At the end of the first half though, Timothy was able to draw a Penalty Kick on a hand ball in Fenton's box. Nate Slager was able to put the PK home. The second half was a different story with Fenton putting home 4 more goals.

!0/8/09 at Ridgewood 1-0 Win

In a cold wet game, the Torjans were able to prevail. After dominating most of the game with a majority of the chances, Hoon Han was able to get the Trojans on the board with a shot from the 18 with about 10 minutes left. The defense was able to hang on for the win.

10/06/09 vs Riverside-Brookfield 2-1 Loss

On another windy day against Riverside, the Trojans came up just short. After a shut-out half from Max Jaabay and the defense, Riverside was able to score two goals in the second half on two long great shots. The Trojans kept battling and finally scored with 2 minutes left to play. On a corner kick by Devon Loerop, Zac Postma challenged for the header. Jason Kuiper got on the end of it and kept it in play for Jay to knock home for his first goal of the year.

10/3/09 at Addison Trail 4-1 Win

On another tough surface with long grass, the Trojans were able to reverse their fortune and come away with a win 4-1. Justin Rink was the set-up man of the day with 3 assists. Off a throw in from Brandon Kottke, Justin connected on a cross with Nate Slager in the first half and the halftime score was 1-0. After Addison Trail was able to tie early in the second half, the Trojans responded back. Justin again set-up Hoon, who was able to find the far corner of the net. The third goal came off a cross from Justin that Matt Huizenga was able to put in the back off the net. Nate Slager tallied his second goal of the day off a steal and breakaway for the final Trojan goal.

10/01/09 vs Fenton 4-1 Loss

On a cold rainy day, the Trojans were unable to adapt to the elements and took the loss 4-1. The lone Trojan goal came from Justin rink on an assist from Hoon.

9/29/09 vs Elmwood Park 8-1 Win

The Trojans were able to extend their home winning streak to 3 with an 8-1 win against Elmwood Park. Playing in only his second game all year, due to transfer rules, Hoon was able to tally his first two goals of the year. Danny Leach, in his first opportunity to play the field, also notched two goals. Goals were also scored by Matt DeJong, Nate Slager, Jason Kuiper, and Jake Hooker. Justin Rink and Nate Slager each had two assists, with Devon Loerop and Zac Postma also providing assists.

9/28/09 at Riverside-Brookfield 2-1 Loss

Drastic conditions again played into a loss for the Trojans. Strong winds all game long made for a tough place to play. After the first half, the score was tied 1-1, with Jake Hooker putting home a cross from Aaron Snoeyink. Riverside-Brookfield was able to take the lead in the second half with an amazing shot and the Trojans were unable to respond.

9/26/09 vs. Earlville 3-2 Win

In the first Saturday game of the season for JV, the Trojans were able to come away with a win. Earlville fought hard, but Timothy was able to hang on for the one goal win. Justin Rink, Jake Hooker, and Zac Postma notched the goals while Nate Slager provided two assists and Matt Robinson had one assist. This win was the second win in a row at home.

9/24/09 at Illiana 4-0 Loss

The Trojans were unable to come up with any offense as the field conditions played right into the home team's favor. The long grass prevented Timothy's passes from reaching their target and frustrated players that were looking to dribble. Illiana scored all their goals in the first half, as the Trojans stepped up their play in the second half, but were unable to find the back of the net.

9/22/09 vs Ridgewood 3-2 Win

The Trojans were able to get their first home win of the season against Ridgewood. Ridgewood was attacking late, but the Trojans were able to hang on to the one goal win. Justin Rink and Aaron Snoeyink both notched a goal and assist while Devon Loerop added a goal and Nate Slager an assist.

9/17/09 at Wheaton Academy 8-2 Loss

The Trojans faced a very good team from Wheaton Academy and ended up coming up short. Jason Kuiper put home a goal in the first half off a cross from Justin Rink that was deflected by Jake Hooker. Justin added the second goal in the second half off a through ball from Jake Hooker that the keeper was unable to hold on to.

9/15/09 Away vs. Homewood-Flossmoor 3-1 Loss

In a tough away game, the Trojans again found themselves down early. After HF had taken a 2-0 lead though, Nate Slager was able to find the back of the net with a half volley off a flicked on head ball by Jason Kuiper. HF quickly responded with another goal of their own to put the Trojans away.

9/14/09 Home vs. Illiana 3-2 Loss

Illiana took an early first half lead as the Trojans went into halftime down 1-0. Another strike by Illiana early in the second had the Trojans down two goals, but with under 15 minutes to go, the Trojans roared back on goals by Steppan Gryniv and Nate Slager, with assists coming from Devon Loreop and Aaron Snoyink. This game ended in heartbreak though, with Illiana scoring on a breakaway with 3 minutes left to go.

9/10/09 Away vs. Aurora Central 3-0 Win

After a lackluster half by both teams, the Trojans came to life scoring 3 goals. Joel Brouwer, Jake Hooker, and Devon Loreop each had a goal a piece with Steppan Gryniv dishing out two assists.

9/8/09 Home vs. Chicago Christian 2-2 Tie

The Trojans fell behind early against the Knights of Chicago Christian, but a great cross from Joel Brouwer to set up a beautiful goal by Nate Slager tied up the game going into halftime. Nate scored again early in the second half, but Chicago Christian was able to find the equalizer with about 7 minutes left in the game.

First Week Recap

The first game of the season ended in disappointment, as the team lost 1-0 to University High School. The Trojans committed two fouls inside the penalty box resulting in two penalty kicks, but University High only converted one.

The second game of the season was a much better result for the team as they beat Elmwood Park 10-1. The scoring was spread out with Jake Hooker leading the way with 3 goals. Steppan Gryniv, Justin Rink, Devon Loroep, Nate Slager, Joel Brouwer, Jason Kuiper, and Brandon Kottke also added goals. Matt DeJong was the primary set-up man with 4 assists.

There is no practice until Tuesday, September 8 when the Trojans take on Chicago Christian at 4:30 at home. The Trojans also head to Aurora Central Catholic on Thursday with another game at 4:30.

10-18 - Home vs University High - L 3-2

With the season closer game on the line, the Trojans were unfortunately defeated in the last home game. With the two goals being scored off PK's due to hand balls in the box, Nick Groenwold and Nathan Slager made great shots to ensure the Trojans were in the game until the end. The winning goal by U High was scored on an offensive attack which resulted in a one on one situation with the goalie. Overall the game was well played by both teams.

10-16 - Away vs Westmont - L 5-0

With a disappointing loss to Westmont, the Trojans did not come out with the caliber of play in the first half that they have been known for most of the season. However in playing a team with Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, and the Westmont starters mainly Juniors and Seniors, the Trojans did put up a fight for the second half of the game.

10-11 - Home vs Wheaton St. Francis - T 1-1

After a well played game by the Trojans, we ended in another tie for the season with 1 lone goal scored by, Colin Middel. There were plenty of shot attempts on goal, with several saves made by the keepers and defenders as well. Overall the Trojans were a bit slow in coming out with intensity, but came out with a tie.

10-6 - Home vs Fenwick - W 2-1

What a great game. After coming off the first loss of the season the Trojans were able to dominate the possession of the ball on the field and beat Fenwick which is known for their soccer program. With the two goals of the night being scored by Colin Middel, one unassisted and the other assisted by Nolan Dubois, the Trojans were playing like they have never played before. The defense had a huge game as they had 2 saves by Kevin Hansberger and John Bowman. Blake Englesman and Max Jabaay each had 2 saves a piece. A very successfully played game, the Trojans are back to playing the way that they have proven themselves all season long to be a great team.

10-4 - Home vs Addison Trail - L 1-3

With the first loss of the season the Trojans played a terrible game. Addison Trail clearly possessed the ball and dominated the middle of the field, winning almost all the 50-50 balls that were played. The Trojans did put up a fight in the second half trying to re-claim the possession, but were unable to recover. Nolan Dubois had the lone goal and he was assisted by Colin Middel. Max Jabaay had a game record number of saves at 14.

10-1 - Home vs Hinckley Big Rock - W 3-1

What a game that was played by the Trojans versus Hinckley Big Rock. The Trojan offense came out with intensity and drive and successfully put 3 goals onto the scoreboard. With Nolan Dubois having 2 of the goals, and Colin Middel the last goal, the offense was on fire. Assists were made by Colin Middel, Troy Ellens, and Nick Groenwold. A record number of 19 shots were put on goal throughout the course of the game. Max Jabaay had an incredible 4 saves and the defense played a tremendous game as well.

9/27 - Away vs IL Math & Science Academy

After the tie with Wheaton Academy, the Trojans travelled on a beautiful Saturday morning to Aurora to play the IL Math and Science Academy team. We came out strong, and had good possession of the ball, however today was a big learning day, as the IMSA team had a well developed offsides trap play, that caused our offense to struggle in adjusting. However once adjusted to the offsides trap, the offense was able to have some great break-aways to goal, and delivered 4 balls into the back of the net. Colin Middel and Nathan Slager each had 2 goals a piece for the day. Nick Groenwold had 2 assists, and Troy Ellens and Michael Euwema put forth the other 2 assists. With a chance to play everyone on the team, each individual showed great effort and overall we played a great game together as a team.

9/25 - HOME vs Wheaton Academy

Coming off the tie with Westminister, the Trojans wanted to end our conference season with a great game, and we did. The Trojans came out into the game with a great attitude and presence on the field, both defensively and offensively to start the game. Our offensive came up with 2 goals, by Nolan and Colin. The assists for the goals were from Michael Euwema and Nick Groenwold. An outstanding game was played by our defense, John Bowman, Troy Ellens, Matt Robinson and Kevin Hansberger. They helped prevent many offensive attacks from occurring. Blake Englesman our Keeper also had a great game in which he was able to save 7 shots, and held the Wheaton team to only 2 goals. In the end with a 2-2 tie, I couldn't have asked for a better effort then what these young men put forth on the field today. With an undefeated conference record, they played a great game and held true to putting forth their best effort.

Boys JV Soccer vs Westmont is cancelled due to weather and field conditions. The game is re-scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th, at Timothy at 5:00pm.

Practice is also cancelled for today, an announcement is being made to the students at school.

9-23 - Away vs Westminister - T 1-1

After coming off the win on Monday, the Trojan's came out well against the Warriors, and were up 1-0, after an unfortunate goal off a defelction, the score was tied 1-1. The Trojan's put up a great effort in the second half defensively and were able to keep the score tied. With the darkeness of night approaching, the Trojan's had a great build and Colin had a great shot, unfortunately he was called offsides. The game was called due to darkness, but the Trojan's walked away with a tie.

9-22 - Home vs Homewood-Flossmoor - W 4-2

After a long weekend, the Trojan's came out strong against Homewood-Flossmoor. With a great mid-field presence in this game and the successful approach to mentally focusing on the strategies that have been discussed. The Trojan defensive has been putting forth a great effort to clear the ball and mark the opponents forwards well. Colin Middel had 2 goals, Nolan DuBois and Troy Ellens also put the ball into the back of the net. Nolan had two assists and a Matt Robinson had a great assist from half.

9-18 - Home vs Chicago Hope - W 2-1

The Trojan's came out strong against Chicago Hope and put forth a great effort. With a strong presence both defensively and offensively, the team took control of the possession and played a great game. Nolan DuBois had 2 goals, and Aaron Snoeyink had the assist for one of them.

ILLIANA GAME TIME CHANGE!!!

Due to the main soccer field being flooded, the soccer games against Illiana will be played on the Middle School field. This places the Varsity game before the JV game, due to lack of lights. However, the JV team should still get a full game in before it gets dark. The Varsity game is starting at 4:00pm and I expect the JV game to start around 5:30pm or 5:45pm. Players should be warming up by 5:00pm.

With the opening game of the season at home, the Timothy JV came out strong and flowing like they have been playing together for years. With only 2 15 minute halves to play, the Trojans immediately set forth the dominance of possession of the ball and established several points on the board. The goals for today were scored by: Ben Cook (1), Nolan DuBois (1), Troy Ellens (1), Nick Groenwold (3), and Josiah Horras (1). The team looks forward to our next game against Chicago Christian.

The team came out a bit slow today, with a hot blistering day, the pace of the game was fast, and both teams were defensively putting up a good fight. After a good run, Colin Middel was able to bury the ball into the back of the net to get a point on the board for TC. The game was continuing after half to be a very physical and endurance testing game with the heat, and then with 7 minutes left in the game, the Chicago Christian team made a strong offensive attack, in which they almost scored, if it hadn't been for John Bowman making the save as a defender and clearing the ball out the of the defensive half. Right after that clear, the game was called due to a thunderstorm that was approaching with lightning strikes. However the game was marked as an official win for TC, which marks our first win in conference.

Earlville Game

What an amazing day for soccer. The weather cooled off for the JV game, and the team came out strong with a desire to win. Putting 6 goals on the board by a very tight offense that wasn't afraid to pass the ball and challenge the Earlville defense. The Timothy defense held strong yet again keeping a 0 on the board for allowed goals. The goals went to the following individuals: Zach Dobey (3), Collin Middel (2), and Nolan DuBois (1). The TC JV team is continuing their streak of dominating possession of the ball on the field, and defensively playing to win the ball every time.

« From the West - From I-80, take Interstate 39 north to the Route 34 (Mendota exit).
Turn right (go east) for approximately 10 miles. Turn left onto 12th Road (just before the railroad tracks, there is also a drive-in theater at this corner) - 12th Road will turn into Union Street once you are in town. The school is located on the west edge of town. There is a circular drive in front of the school. Park in the drive and use the double glass doors. You will have to ring the door bell to be allowed in.

« From the Northeast - From I-88, take the Sugar Grove exit (to Route 30).
Stay on this road and it will turn into Route 30. Take Route 30 to Route 23 south - four way stop signs (turn left). Go approximately 10 miles to Route 34 west (turn right at stop sign). Again you will go approximately 10 minutes. Turn right onto Greenbriar Road (BP gas station). Greenbriar Road will “T” onto Union Street. Turn left onto Union Street. The school is located on the west end of Union Street. There is a circular drive in front of the school. Park in the drive and use the double glass doors. You will have to ring the door bell to be allowed in.

« From the Southeast - From I-80, take the Ottawa - Route 23 exit north (turn right).
At the intersection of 23 and Route 52, go straight across Route 52. This is Harding Blacktop. You will go approximately 5 minutes. On the other side of Harding you will come to a three way stop sign, turn left onto 1553rd Road. Go approximately 5 minutes. This will come to a stop sign at Route 34. Cross Route 34 and go to the stop sign at Ottawa Street and Union Street (Casey’s) and turn left. The school is located on the west edge of town. There is a circular drive in front of the school. Park in the drive and use the double glass doors. You will have to ring the door bell to be allowed in.

« To Route 88: Go right out of the school parking lot.
Go straight at the Casey stop sign (Union & Ottawa Street). At your next stop sign, turn left on to Route 34 (You will be going east). Go approximately 10 minutes to Route 23 “North”. Turn left onto Route 23 North. Go approximately 10 minutes to Route 30. This will be a stop sign. Turn right onto Route 30. You will stay on this road. It will change to Route 56 (?) (Route 30 will turn). Then it will change into Route 88.

« To Route 80: Go right out of the school parking lot.
At the stop sign by Casey’s, turn right. At the stop sign at Route 34, go straight. As soon as you cross Route 34, turn left. Follow this road for 10 minutes. At the next stop sign, turn right toward Harding. Go approximately 10 minutes and you will come to a stop sign at Routes 52 & 23. Go straight and you will be on Route 23 South. In approximately 10 minutes you will come to Route 80. You will turn to your left onto Route 80 East.

Westminister Game Rescheduled

The Westminister Game that was cancelled today, has been rescheduled for Monday next week the 8th. It will be at Westminister and JV will play after the Varsity team. I am expecting our game to start around 6pm.

There will be no practice today, due to the efforts of the JV players on Thursday's practice. Have a great Labor Day Weekend. Please remember to run 1 mile at 90% and a 2 mile at 90% sometime over the weekend, because we go straight into our game at Chicago Christian on Tuesday next week.

A great, though short game was played last night for the JV soccer team. Even though we only had 30 minutes to play, I felt the team did very well with the effort they put forth. It was great to finally get to see everyone in action, and how well we meshed together on the field. Nick had a hat trick for the game, and everyone did a fantastic job.
